Coronavirus and Italy point of view

Some people said that the desert we are seeing in our cities looks similar to the one we often see in August when everyone is away on holidays. I totally disagree with this (unfortunately, this is a colleague’s point of view). From the visual and artistic perspective, he is definitely way off base. He doesn’t understand the photographer’s and artist’s mood and approach towards reality. This is why it’s  so important to observe right now what surrounds us, interpret it and document it.  Italy, Coronavirus, Photos, Bologna

Ho sentito dire da qualcuno che, in fondo, il deserto delle nostre città è simile visivamente a quello di agosto quando tutti sono in vacanza.  Non sono per nulla d’accordo con ciò ha detto (ahimè un collega):  dal punto di vista visivo e artistico è completamente fuori strada.Non tiene conto dello stato d’animo e dell’approccio che si ha  come fotografi e in modo più esteso come artisti, verso la realtà. Appunto per questo è importante leggere ORA quello che ci circonda, interpretarlo e documentarlo. Bologna  Italia Marzo Aprile 2020.

Invitano tutti all’auto isolamento perche la situazione peggiorera’ per ovvi motivi, nel senso che i contagiati sono talmente tanti che chiaramente a loro volta avranno contagiato altre persone nella settimana scorsa. 

 They say everyone should self isolate because the situation will get worse for clear reasons. I mean, there are so many people infected that obviously, in turn, they must have infected other people last week. 

Comunque la gente non riesce a stare a casa perché dice che si sente ingabbiata, ma secondo me non si sente ingabbiata tanto nel rimanere a casa, si sente ingabbiata dal troppo tempo libero che di solito non è abituata ad avere lamentandosi quindi è questo un grosso problema, quindi adesso tutta questa voglia di fare jogging, tutta sta voglia di socialità ma mi sembra effettivamente una poca presa di coscienza di non riuscire a strae in contatto con forse quelle delle cose che sono delle cose un po’ più concrete e reali. 

 People say they are not able to stay at home because they are feeling caged but I believe they feel like that not mainly because they are at home. They are feeling caged by too much free time that they usually don’t have and they are complaining about it. It has suddenly become a huge problem, everyone wants to go jogging, everyone wants to socialize but to me it seems more like they are realising they can’t actually be in touch with what is concrete and real.  

É strano specie se sei in una casa da solo, hai un sacco di tempo, soprattutto se stai in una città dove mediamente corri sempre e non è stare da solo di per sé è lo stare da solo in questo contesto

 It’s weird..especially if you are in a house alone, you’ve got loads of time - especially if you live in a city where you usually have to rush all the time. It’s not being alone in general, it’s weird being alone in this context.
